Vision &
Mission

My ‘checkered past’ includes a
gypsy childhood, experiencing the U.S. from Illinois to Indiana to
Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, California, Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri,
Montana, and finally, to the state of Washington. This experience
gifted me with the ability to quickly adapt to new environments, to
connect easily with other people and instilled in me a strong sense of
self-reliance and confidence.
In Louisiana at the age of 21
months, I was one of the 'lucky' ones in the last outbreak of polio
before Dr. Salk developed & launched his vaccine. My right leg and foot were
affected, yet it has only prevented me from doing ballet, in-line
skating and ice-skating so far! I view this as my ‘nurturing
affliction’, contributing greatly to my personal strength,
determination and unstop-ability throughout my life. I know that I
created it to fulfill karmic debt and to mold this lifetime, guiding
my choices as I’ve moved forward, keeping me on my soul’s path.
My 20+ year career in corporate
America has also been just as ‘checkered’, providing opportunities
to work in industries as diverse as law, public accounting, electrical
wholesale, aerospace, hospitality, restaurant, residential and
commercial property management, nuclear power, and structural
engineering. Through most of these jobs I held the positions of
operations manager, bookkeeper, computer manager, trainer, executive
recruiter, and human resources (H.R.) manager. As a result of
accumulating this 'portfolio' of experience, I'm able to understand
and empathize with a vast array of business situations and challenges.
The
entrepreneurial bug bit me in 1988, and I formed a partnership with a
former colleague to do executive recruiting and H.R. consulting for
Seattle’s burgeoning high tech community. This lasted for about 2
years, when I realized I was burned out on H.R. work and fed up with
my business partner!
As
I contemplated what was next for me, I came to the horrifying
realization that I would now make a LOUSY employee for someone else,
having tasted the freedom of being on my own. While I decided what to
do, I finished up the last of my consulting commitments by day,
wearing my smart business suits and high heels; by night, I was
slinging beer, wine and food at my local sports bar, wearing jeans, a
tavern tee shirt and sneakers…talk about leading a Jekyll and Hyde
existence, this was more than a little freaky!
I
decided to capitalize on a lifelong hobby (and dubious gift) of
knowing how to apply makeup, coordinate colors, and project a
successful image; I launched a Mary Kay Cosmetics business. This was
great fun for 3 years, was a terrific business and people management
training ground and put me in close relationship with multitudes of
diverse women – what a change since in all of my career up to this time
I had
been in work relationships primarily with men!
Itchy
feet (or, more accurately, questing soul) struck once again and I
realized I wanted to work with people on more than a superficial,
image level. I wanted to support them in living successfully from the
'inside-out' -- and help them define success in their own terms.
Synchronicity
at work once again, concurrent with my entrepreneurial birthing was
the rebirthing of my spiritual path, abandoned in my mid teens through
my late 30s. Thank goodness for Shirley McLaine and my lifelong
fascination with everything to do with movies and movie stars…her
book, “Dancing in the Light,” rekindled my spiritual questing, which
continues to this day…and beyond!
Beginning
in 1987, profound teachers showed up (of course) at exactly the
perfect time, blessing my spiritual path. When coaching appeared on my
mental radar screen, so did my mentor for the Melchizedek Method,
which I also been practiced and taught from '98 through 2002.
The
career of professional coaching came to my attention in late 1996 and I
realized I’d been doing it in almost every one of my jobs – there
just hadn't yet been an official name for it at the time. In 1997, I
began training as a coach, attracted my first clients, and have been
happily coaching (and teaching coaching) ever since. My soul is
nourished by partnering with people who are dedicated to transforming
themselves and their lives in a purposeful and intentional way.
Coaching
allows me to see how spiritual principles work in 'real life.'
Miraculously clear mirrors for my own growth issues appear in the form
of my coaching clients, workshop participants and colleagues – by
partnering with them, I gain the advantage of experiencing multiple
approaches to the opportunities for learning that life provides me!
My
work is taking on proportions I never dreamed possible and I'm living
my life mission as I step into my Galactic Shamanic work.
Leading spiritual retreats in the beautiful and special places of the
world is now a reality for me. Hawaii and the wild spinner & spotted dolphins have provided
me an incredible loving space for healing and transformation, both
personally and for my retreat participants. (Contented sigh.)
Life
is, indeed, a grand adventure. Since 1970, I’ve enjoyed the
partnership of the kindest, most loving companion I could ever
imagine; his name is Harold. He has provided the stability and
unfaltering support necessary for my never-ending transformations –
and he’s done it with love and infinite patience.
Filling out our family are two adorable miniature dachshunds named
Sebastian and Wilson, and a silky black mini-panther tortoise-shell
cat named Miss Merlin --
all three are great teachers and wise beings who fill my life with
joy, laughter and solace (when I'm feeling a bit blue).

Gregg Braden is one of my greatest
teachers, and rocked my world by posing these two questions
on a video, "The Lost Mode of Prayer:"
"WHAT IF Life is not a series of lessons to be learned or tests
to be passed or failed? WHAT IF Life is merely a series of
opportunities you create so that you can demonstrate your
Mastery?"
These
questions support my long-held belief that life on Mother Earth is
nothing more than the largest and most complex 'virtual reality game'
ever devised -- and that all of us are merely players on this huge 'holo-deck'
(a tip of my hat to Star Trek)!
In closing, Ill share
one of my favorite quotes, which comes from one of the Conversations
with God books:
"A
true Master is not the one with the most students, but one who helps
create the most Masters."
Having partnered with others for more
than 25 years in human resources, executive recruiting and consulting, I bring a broad
base of experience as your success champion/coach. A graduate of Academy for Coach Training
(ACT), I earned the
credential of Certified Professional Coach (CPC). I have served for 4+ years
as a
senior course leader for ACTs coaching skills
courses and in September 2005 stepped onto the ACT management team as
Vice-President of Training and Development. I also qualified for accreditation as a
Professional Certified Coach (PCC) in Aprill 1999, through the International Coach Federation (ICF)
as one of the first coaches in the world to be credentialed in the
coaching profession. I am currently (as of Oct. 2005) in the
application process to obtain my Master Certified Coach (MCC)
credential as one of fewer than 500 coaches worldwide to attain this
level of coaching experience (a minimum of 2,500 client coaching
hours).
